AyOoOooooOOOO...
Boom happy new year, spring time and all that. Aries kicking it off real good. It's been mentioned enough times I should blog my diet and exercise, so boom here it is, share time.
This year I have chosen to fully commit to the frutarian / raw vegan diet. So i will only be eating raw fruits and some other raw plants, like hemp and wheatgrass. It's been a steady transition, vegetarian for years, vegan for months, raw vegan on and off for weeks, and strictly raw majority fruit for days. Mad on cookies and cake till the end of 2013 and until just recently hard on granola bars, and peanut butter mixes. Here is a sample of one of the mix-ups:-
Sweet Nut Butter Dream
- 2dsp(dessert spoon) of peanut butter
- 2dsp almond butter
- 1dsp sunflower seed butter
- 1dsp honey
- shredded coconut
- granola, pumpkin seed & flax seed clusters
- flax seed powder
- acai berry powder
- hemp powder
- chia seeds
- raisins
Mash all that in a bowl and eat DAT!!
It's actually been about 4 days since I cut out the nut butter butter oh the nut butter and granola bars :P Just making the equinox an official start date of the settled into RAW, majority fruit styleee. How much fruit do I have to eat to feel satisfied..? I'm active, I workout everyday, bike about 8miles nearly everyday and sometimes play handball. To meet these energy needs throughout the day, I will eat about:
- half a (head size)watermelon, & same size honeydew (and/or canteloupe melon)
- whole pineapple,
- 5 clementine oranges (and/or 2 navels)
- 4 bananas
- quarter (foot size papaya)
- 1/2 mango
- 4 kiwis
- 2lb strawberries
I only eat one fruit type at a time (mono-meal), favoring high water less dense fruits. Sometimes I'll munch on some beetroot, spinach and a mixture of other green leaf veg.
Standard greens mix-up:
Buncha Green
- spinach (and/or kale)
- coriander
- avocado
- garlic
- spring onion
- green pesto
I found a recipe from Kristina the fully raw chick, raw vegan chilli. It's pretty cool, it was her recipe of the week.
FULLYRAW.COMIngredients for the Raw Vegan Chili:-Approximately 3-4 cups of ripe tomatoes (cherry, grape, or roma tomatoes)
-3 to 4 cups of soaked and drained UN-salted sun-dried tomatoes
-Another cup of sliced cherry or grape tomatoes
-1 cup of FullyRaw corn
-1 cup of diced zucchini
-1 cup of diced celery
-1 cup of diced red bell pepper
-half a cup of chopped carrots
-half a cup of chopped green onions
-1 cup of sliced mushrooms
-half cup of red onions
-half cup of diced cilantro
-quarter to 1 cup of diced avocado (1 avocado)
-1 diced jalapeƱo pepper (optional)
-Optional: few garlic cloves
-Few leaves of fresh basil
-Tablespoon of fresh chili powder
-Paprika
-Sage -Cumin
-Thyme
-Optional for more spice: cayenne pepper!
I like to mix it up depending on what I've got, minus the chilli & jalapeno. Today it was sun-dried, cherry, grape and roma tomatoes chopped up with red pepper, cucumber, avacado and garlic.
That's my food intake, keeping it all raw, as much organic as possible (especially skinless). Liquid intake is water, California offers me easy access to distilled/ozonated water. I aim for 3 litres a day, some mixed with apple cider vinegar, some mixed with aloe vera juice. Extra bonus bits include hemp powder, barley & wheat grass powder, spirulina & chlorella tabs, galantamine and alpha-gpc which I take as lucid dreaming supplements which is some interesting shit I would like to share in another blog. This one is the journey, the challenge, the insight into what the human body is capable of on a raw plant majority fruit based diet. WHY THOUGH???????
Call it listening, call it being aware of what you need to do to achieve what you want. I think about living through this life way past 100 years, 100 times around the sun easy, with health and fitness in peak condition. In order to achieve that, I guess my body recognized what it needed to do to, and relayed the message back to me through my choices in diet. I also cannot ignore the fact that we, comparable to other species, are designed to eat fruits, nuts and vegetables. Our teeth are not like a lion's or natural meat eater, we have no claws, we have fingers to peel fruit, and grinding teeth to chew plants. The digestive system, among other things are totally different. So it makes sense and tastes awesome. Fruit is the real fast food, the natural colourful sweet, presented to us from the earth designed to be eaten :) I don't think eating meat makes you a bad person, I just think it's an ignorant choice given the information we know about the body, how we digest food, the meat industry and the horrible life of slaughtered animals... If we swapped the time and effort spent on feeding animals to be killed/eaten, to feeding humans, there wouldn't be any starving people anymore, I betcha some dollar bills. If the whole animal farm industry quit, it would make the world a better place for sure, everybody's health would be a lot better, the amount of pollution and waste that comes from farming, killing and the transportation of meat would be no more, and that's LOADS!!!!!! The fear and death energy of millions of animals will no longer stain the atmosphere. On some level not seen, I'm convinced that will make a huge difference!!
Buuuut each to their own you know, I'm not here to tell you how or what to eat, I'm just an example of one possibility, sharing an experience I know not many I know could replicate, or if they wanted to help them along the way :)
My workouts are daily, alternating between upper and lower body, mainly consisting of resistance band routines. My style is short duration, high intensity, 10-20mins max for one session. Everyday also includes recovery work - stretching, yoga and ball rolling, similar to using a foam roller but a basketball instead. I have a power jumper which attaches to waist and ankles and you can hook resistance bands between them for things like burpees, squat jumps, running up stairs. 5lb ankle weights and other resistance bands for things like rows, shoulder-press bla bla bla. An ab-wheel which IMO is the best ab workout. Other bodyweight exercises, a variety of pushups, plank, handstands pullups etc.
I will be posting video evidence of all this shit, picture updates and whatever else pops up in the crop.
So booya here we go, thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it to be of some use to me, you, somebody, anyboooodey :P
Welcome to the journey...
